Current Version: 1.0.1.22

Date of release: 18 April 2009

Release 1.0.1.22: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Several errors were reported when printing ... and it took us ages to get to the bottom of the problem, until we discovered that these errors were generated when trying to print an empty show ... in other words a show with only one item with no content. Why anyone would want to do that we're not sure, but anyway the bug has been fixed - feel free to print your show even when there's nothing there! Perhaps it's all those tempting buttons, it's just too difficult to resist pressing them. We feel like that when we visit OB vans to see MCM in action ... all those buttons!
  • An error that was generated when an empy Live Note was deleted has been fixed.
  • Live Notes now default to a duration of zero - it was confusing to see a note displayed AFTER the point at which it actually has relevance when there are many notes in a single item.
  • An error that was generated when adjusting Advanced Page Setup when there were no technical specifications yet defined for the show has been fixed. Even if there are no technical specifications you can adjust the Advanced Page Setup.
  • An error generated by opening an MCM file from a temporary location (such as an email client) has been corrected. A warning will pop up instead of the error, encouraging you to save the file to a local destination before opening it. The error occurred because MCM stores specification, temporary version upgrade and view files in the same folder as the source file, and of course it cannot do that to a temporary location.
  • Related to this problem was an error to do with Fortuna's security certificate and authentication, which wasn't handled correctly if the computer wasn't speaking English! We have users of MCM in 12 different languages, so expecting error messages to be in English is no longer a reality!
Release 1.0.1.22 made available 18 April 2009, 10:00 am

Release 1.0.1.21: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Empty segments (segments without items) were causing untold misery, including problems with printing cue cards, running orders and camera cards and also the launching of live mode. Thanks are due to the user in Iceland who sent through the files that caused the problems, and helped us isolate this problem that has been eluding us for two years! We were so excited to have found this problem that we immediately released a new version with this one problem fixed.
Release 1.0.1.21 made available 31 March 2009, 11:00 am

Release 1.0.1.20: The following changes were made in this update:

  • The licensing of MCM has been changed to accomodate for a once-off purchase of a "forever" licence. If an older version is presented with a forever license, it returns a licence error - which has been fixed.
  • In the printing of running orders a bug has been fixed that occurred if screen information was printed, and no screens had been specified in the technical specifications of the show.
Release 1.0.1.20 made available 26 March 2009, 10:00 am

Release 1.0.1.19: The following changes were made in this update:

  • An error to do with duplicating audio or video source changes across many items has been resolved
  • A countdown screen now appears in live mode when the software is counting to the start of an item. This avoids the confusion of not knowing why live mode hasn't jumped to the correct item (because it is counting down to that item!)
  • An error to do with margins reducing page size to 0 if the user's computer has regional settings which don't match their region!
  • Added the capability to define "custom item types". As opposed to actual item types (like script/VT/Music etc.) these custom types in fact only change the colour of the display of the item in the workspace, when printing and when running live mode. The idea is that one can create many different "item types" which can then be recognised easily when building the show, printing or running live mode.
  • Added the ability to start an item a specified amount of time into the item when running live mode.
Release 1.0.1.19 made available 7 February 2009, 8:30 pm

Release 1.0.1.18: The following changes were made in this update:

  • An issue that caused MCM to freeze if Video or Audio Source changes were duplicated across all items of a particular type.
  • The way in which durations of camera shots are printed on camera cards - the frames were fun, but a bit pointless - minutes and seconds are more useful.
  • Corrected an error generated by an incorrect version number in the manifest for the Find & Replace module
Release 1.0.1.18 made available 20 January 2009, 10:30 pm

Release 1.0.1.17: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Because of switching from Microsoft's Click-Once technology to the more standard Inno-Setup, this change is actually quite a big one, and requires a full un-installation before re-installing.
  • MCM now starts up with a "start" window, through which one can open a recent file, open another file, create a new file, either blank, or by importing from Word/Excel, or create a new file from a template.
  • Templates have been introduced. These are full shows, but cleaned of all people's names, etc. The idea is that you can open a template, and then adjust it to be the perfect show for you! And it'll be much quicker than building a whole new show.
  • Shows now have "show descriptions" which are useful in working out what on earth the show actually is if the file name is gobble-de-gook.
  • Many, many small bugs fixed, including:
  • An error whereby over 2000 camera cards were printed if a camera had TX, screen & ISO shots in one item - caused an endless (the 2000 camera cards were recycled!)
  • Undoing the moving of an item didn't move it back to the right place all the time - which was fairly disastrous. Fixed
  • Dragging and dropping an item into the last place in a segment generated an error.
  • Editing music details of an item - occasionally the number of bars would be reset to 0.
  • On clearing a logo from the Show details, an error kept getting triggered, to do with the tag we attach to logos to track changes to them.
  • And several others so obscure they are hardly worth mentioning.
Release 1.0.1.17 made available 8 November 2008, 02:30 pm

Release 1.0.1.16: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Version 1.16 was an interim internal release (not a public one) in which we tested the concept of saying goodbye to Microsoft's Click-Once technology. Click-Once was meant to make the whole process of distributing, installing and automatically updating software easier for the end user, but I've got to say at the end of the day it didn't really work. We had problems with updates not getting picked up by applications one week, and then the next week the application seemed to remember it was network deployed ...
  • And so we have adopted Inno-Setup as an installation system, and it works pretty well.
  • Another big advantage is that MCM is now installed in the Programs Folder by default, which makes things so much easier ...
Release 1.0.1.16 was never made publicly available

Release 1.0.1.15: The following changes were made in this update:

  • An irritating bug that meant if you had two (or more) elements that shared the same initial letters (such as Rob and Robynn - thanks Louise!), and you had created them in the order: shorter first, then longer, all the longer named elements would be replaced by the shorter elements. This has been fixed.
  • For non-live shows the shooting order of the show would be corrupted if items were converted from show items to non-show items or vice versa. This no longer happens.
Release 1.0.1.15 made available 25 September 2008, 02:30 pm

Release 1.0.1.14: The following changes were made in this update:

  • VT changes were not duplicating, so we fixed that.
  • That's all! We don't like the number 13, so we got onto 14 as quickly as possible
Release 1.0.1.14 made available 18 September 2008, 03:00 pm

Release 1.0.1.13: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Fixed a bug that was caused by entering ISO information (the Undo information stored was not in a correct format).
  • Corrected an error that actually linked all items over which Screen stream changes were duplicated - so that if further changes were made to the Screen streams, all those items were affected.
  • Corrected an error that was generated when an item without a title was deleted.
Release 1.0.1.13 made available 17 September 2008, 07:00 pm

Release 1.0.1.12: The following changes were made in this update:

  • An irritating bug that reappeared thanks to the addition of the Undo feature whereby it was impossible to do anything if you deleted the contents of an element box, and tried to click on another box ... has been fixed.
  • Intelli-type has been improved - it now only tries to suggest names at the beginning of new paragraphs, not at the beginning of every line!
  • It is now possible to select only certain items to be printed, including ranges of items. This is useful if you have only made changes to a few items, and want to print only those items. Previously one had to reprint the entire script, which did no good to the environment!
  • A very useful feature has been added - whereby the most recent action can be duplicated to all items that have the same Item title, or to all items of the same type (such as to all VT, music, graphic, non-show or script items). Using this feature it is possible to change all bumper durations for instance with a single click, rather than having to find all the bumpers and manually change their duration.
  • A bug has been fixed which was triggered when the middle column was collapsed (by clicking on the small x button), and then the right hand column was similarly collapsed, and an error was triggered, although in fact nothing was wrong.
  • When changes were made to complex elements, the edit trail wasn't correctly reflecting this. Also fixed.
Release 1.0.1.12 made available 11 September 2008, 07:00 pm

Release 1.0.1.11: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Multi-Cam Master is now being sold through Digital River's Share-It! service which is good news to all concerned (users and us coders). Changes have been made to the licensing and subscription process, which is now managed by the highly respected Digital River service.
  • Licenses now roll-over automatically, avoiding the irritating business of having to apply for a new license every 3 months.
  • A bug which triggered an error when creating a new show without a Production Company logo, or Show logo has been fixed. This bug eluded us for a long time, because no-one told us about it!
  • A synchronisation error that occurred when a new item was inserted and then dragged to a new location has been fixed.
  • A few other small issues have been fixed.
Release 1.0.1.11 made available 29 August 2008, 11:00 am

Release 1.0.1.10: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Many major overhauls were made to the user interface of MCM, the most important of which is that MCM is now proudly a Multiple Document Interface application - which means that you can open several shows at once, simultaneously! The greatest benefit to this is that one can copy and paste, and literally drag & drop items and segments between two shows that are open at the same time.
  • Another user interface improvement is that each of the panels in the display can be hidden by clicking a small "hide" button, or using a commande in the Window menu. So if you need more space to write your script, and would rather not have the show logo taking up screen space, simply hide it.
  • MCM now has a fully operational Undo/Redo feature which is uniquely fitted to MCM in that it understands what changes have really been made, and is able to intelligently undo them! The default level of number of items to be able to undo is 20, however this can be made any size you like. We did find that once you get to the 80-100 level the operation of the application starts to slow down noticeably.
  • MCM is also now more aware of whether changes have been made to a show and will prompt you when closing a show as to whether to save the changes or not.
  • Synchronisation now has a whole new dimension - it is possible to synchronise two shows that did not originate from the same file. So long as they have matching Item Numbers, MCM will be able to synchronise them. In this mode all non-show items are NOT synchronised, because of course they don't have item numbers. We still recommend that you use the more reliable MCM system, but in case of disaster this method of synchronisation comes in very handy.
  • Synchronisation now also checks and synchronises show details, such as the TX time, and the show & production company logos.
  • Live mode can be triggered directly from the workspace, in record or play mode - much more convenient than having to use the Tools - Live Mode menu.
  • It is now possible for user-defined time signatures to be entered into the music detail of a musical item. So when you're filming Pink Floyd's "Money" you can enter their 7:4 beat, or even Brahms' rather weird 11:16 and 13:16 beats.
  • The display of Music Bar Numbers in the TX stream has been enlarged in Live Mode - which means now you can actually see them.
  • When exporting to Autocue, different people's names are given different colours (this is optional). The advantage of this is that presenters can recognise their colour, even if they don't recognise their name!
  • And many other small bug fixes that are too tedious to mention!
Release 1.0.1.10 made available 20 February 2008, 7:00 am

Release 1.0.1.9: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Live mode has been enhanced to play shows that are not in fact live - the show will be played according to the Shooting Order. This means that shows shot out of sequence can now benefit from Live Mode.
  • An error triggered by squeezing detail view columns to zero width has been eliminated, and MCM now stores the new widths of columns if they are changed after an error occurs while displaying them (which of course shouldn't really happen ...)
  • Items which used to be show items, but are no longer, or vice versa are now correctly synchronised. This error resulted in item number discrepancies between shows that were fully synchronised when an item had been changed in such a way.
Release 1.0.1.9 made available 20 November 2007, 6:00 pm

Release 1.0.1.8: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Technical and Show specifications have been built into the .mcm show files, so it is no longer necessary to email or copy 3 files when exchanging files - only the .mcm file needs to be transferred. This should eliminate a lot of issues to do with specifications mysteriously disappearing. The .msm and .mtm files are still created by MCM, but are used only when importing specifications into a show, or in the event of corrupted specification data.
  • It is now possible to edit a show while in Live Mode. Item Titles and Durations only can be edited. This is done by double-clicking in the Show Overview box ... an edit window pops up. Durations and Titles edited in this manner are immediately reflected in the live presentation of the show. Items can be deleted from the show during live mode by giving them a duration of 00:00.
  • Error reporting has been enhanced - the user can now describe the steps taken to produce the error, and can email Fortuna Software the show file they were working on. This will enable better bug-fixing on our side, because to be honest some of the bugs we've received we just cannot figure out how they ever got triggered!
  • The show now also saves a reference to the item that was being edited when it is closed - so that a show will reopen to that item, not always to the first item of the show.
  • An automatic prompt to check for software updates has been provided for those situations where firewalls or security systems block the software's automatic update facility. Prompts will now appear every 2 weeks if the automatic facility reports a problem.
  • Potential people or other elements picked up by MCM when parsing the details of an item, and which the user chooses not to add to the show specifications now get stored as "to be ignored" elements, so you don't keep getting asked the same question!
  • The various show changes make this a "breaking" change. Version 1.0.1.8 will automatically upgrade show files created in earlier versions of MCM, but files saved in version 1.0.1.8 cannot be opened by earlier versions, so please make sure your entire team upgrades to this version, or there will be difficulty exchanging files.
Release 1.0.1.8 made available 10 June 2007, 1:00 pm

Release 1.0.1.7: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Importing from Word should not repeat item description in the script box, which was yet another result of Microsoft Word's mysterious little boxes that appear at the end of each line.
  • Item Descriptions for musical items will no longer disappear mysteriously when importing from Word.
  • Payments for MCM licenses are now processed in South African Rand because of the faliure of Setcom's Euro server. Payments will be transferred back to Euro when that problem is resolved.
  • The unique machine ID that MCM uses to prevent the breaking of copyright and software piracy has been changed extensively. The reason for this is that it became apparent that the unique ID's of processor chips weren't all that unique after all! MCM now uses a complex algorith of CPU ID, computer Name and primary hard drive serial number. The upgrading of unique ID's should happen silently without any disruption to the user. This flexible system means that users can literally change their motherboard, or their hard drive, or their computer's name, and still be able to use MCM without licence issues.
  • Issues with deleting Live Notes have been resolved, so that you can now delete them!
Release 1.0.1.7 made available 26 June 2007, 2:00 pm

Release 1.0.1.6 was CD interim release.

Release 1.0.1.5: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Printing of a blank column is now possible, for making old-fashioned written notes on a running order. The column is appropriately called "Notes".
  • The making of notes in Live mode is now possible. In playback or record mode simply start typing, and a Live Note will be created. Live notes are indicated in the TX stream bar by a double red *. The note itself is displayed beneath the TX stream bar. Note that if you are working in Playback mode, but have made notes while working, the Save changes button is activated. Click on this button to save the notes you've made, or click on the Cancel button to delete the notes. Live notes can also be added "manually" when not in Live mode by simply double-clicking in the Live Notes box in the Details window (it is a complex box and is coloured as such). Enter a time from the beginning of the ITEM at which the note is displayed (where the double *'s are displayed). Also enter the duration for which the note is displayed. Keep your Live notes short, or they will be unreadable! Note that in fact live notes are displayed BEFORE the time you indicate, because they are displayed as soon as the stars become visible in the TX stream. This information has yet to be added to the help files.
  • The addition of Live Notes makes this a "breaking" change. Version 1.0.1.5 will automatically upgrade show files created in earlier versions of MCM, but files saved in version 1.0.1.5 cannot be opened by earlier versions, so please make sure your entire team upgrades to this version, or there will be difficulty exchanging files.
Release 1.0.1.5 made available 11 June 2007, 6:00 pm

Release 1.0.1.4: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Importing from Word or Excel now deletes those weird little blocks that Word or Excel files put in place of line breaks. MCM reads these correctly as line breaks.
  • Live Mode is able to handle items correctly that are over an hour long - previously any items over an hour caused later items to disappear.
  • Views now include a "blank notes" column, useful for printing running orders that you want to make notes on without having to write all over the script!
  • Several other small bugs have been fixed (such as errors generated when trying to edit the name of an empty segment).
  • Video Tutorials are now accessible through the Help - Online Tutorials menu.
Release 1.0.1.4 made available 8 June 2007, 11:00 am

Releases 1.0.1.1-3 were CD releases made for distibution to educational institutions.

Release 1.0.1.0: The following changes were made in this update:

  • This is the first official release of Multi-Cam Master. Break out the champagne!
  • Licensing and license payments are now integrated into the application.
  • Help files are integrated into the application, and are not a separate download.
Release 1.0.1.0 made available 5 May 2007, 11:00 am

Release 1.0.0.48: The following changes were made in this update:

  • The option of manually checking for updates has been included to avoid web-site caching problems which caused delays in updating the application
  • Users are now given the option of installing a desktop shortcut when installing the program
  • Durations which are not complete (include spaces) are now not a problem - a space is interpreted as a 0.
  • The music menu item no longer generates an error when clicked without a show open (although why one would do that ...)
  • The right-click menu in the Outline window generated an error when you clicked on the "Create New Item" node, and selected to insert an item after this item. This has been resolved.
Release 1.0.0.48 made available 28 February 2007, 10:00 am

Release 1.0.0.47: The following changes were made in this update:

  • The Splash screen has been reduced in size - more appropriate for the very few words that are displayed on it.
  • The Spell Check process has been changed - so that it can be cancelled at any time.
  • Intelli-Type would delete text entered the script window if no People had been defined. Not very helpful!
Release 1.0.0.47 made available 20 February 2007, 08:30 pm

Release 1.0.0.46: The following changes were made in this update:

  • A bug was fixed whereby Live Mode would generate an error if it encountered an item that used to have camera shots, but does no more - if they have all been deleted.
  • Intelli-Type would occasionally change the colour of any text typed to a subtle and not very useful gray colour. This has been fixed, so that the text remains black as one types.
Release 1.0.0.46 made available 20 February 2007, 10:00 am

Release 1.0.0.45: The following changes were made in this update:

  • An issue whereby users were occasionally unable to Get Licenses seemed to be caused by the fact that Exceptions could be reported without first registering - resulting in the user's computer masquerading as another user. This issue has hopefully, finally been resolved.
Release 1.0.0.45 made available 1 February 2007, 06:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.43: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Multi-Cam Master goes international! An issue with exporting to Excel on a system that does not used English as its base language was resolved.
  • Changing Prop, Place, Wardrobe or People names when those elements have not been defined produced an error, which has been fixed.
Release 1.0.0.43 made available 11 December 2006, 11:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.42: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Finally resolved an issue with some computers which omitted the leading 0 before afternoon times. The problem is fixed, so it is no longer necessary to adjust one's computer setting to read durations correctly.
  • Introduced the first "calls" in Live Mode - TX stream calls are now made by MCM - calling the next camera (including standby/coming to before the switch), and a "take" call a few frames before the switch. Other calls will follow, including presenter cues, and audio calls.
  • Live Mode now displays two times on each item - a count down and a count up (which can be switched by pressing Ctrl-T). This accomodates for PA's who like to count music up from 0, rather than down from total duration!
  • Changed the Export to Excel process to export Show Time as a formula, and Duration as a recognisable Excel format ("mm:ss"), so that changes made to durations in an exported excel file will correctly adjust show times.
  • Corrected an issue whereby VT's with numerical names (such as VT1) would be confused with a duration of shot. VT's can now have any name you like!
Release 1.0.0.42 made available 5 December 2006, 11:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.41: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Resolved an issue with Intelli-Type which would read a capital letter twice (if the Shift key was pressed)
  • Corrected an issue with drag-and-dropping whereby occasionally the drag-and-drop operation would clear the entire box. (Not a very nice thing to happen!)
  • Enabled printing of Show Statistics - one can now print either specific statistics, or all of them.
  • Corrected an issue that gave incorrect counts in Live Mode when the show itself is not live.
  • Changed the determination of the off-air time to accomodate for additional non-show items to be added to the end of the show, without affecting the off-air time. (Items such as announcements to an audience, parties, etc.)
Release 1.0.0.41 made available 28 November 2006, 08:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.40: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Initiated a memory of names that MCM has detected, but which the user chooses not to add to the show specifications. This avoids the repeated asking of the same question! This is not yet persisted when the show is closed and re-opened, as that will involve a breaking update.
  • Resolved a "memory is corrupt" error that was triggered when importing from Word (or exporting to Word) and the version of Word installed on the user's computer was older than Office 2003. MCM should now be able to work with all versions of Word.
  • Adjusted MCM's registry to correctly launch the program and open a file if the file name is double-clicked. MCM registers the extensions mcm, msm and mtm. mvm is also registered, however it doesn't trigger the process start routine.
Release 1.0.0.40 made available 21 November 2006, 11:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.39: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Corrected a licensing issue which allowed one to apply for a license before registering - the registration process presented on upgrading one's license would fail occasionally, allowing people to masquerade as the last registered user! The licensing process should now work smoothly
  • Corrected a bug whereby the first linked items in scripts would occasionally not be printed because they were replaced by the Item Description.
  • Changed linking to require the pressing of both the Ctrl and Alt keys when left-clicking in order to initiate linking. This avoids conflicts with pressing the Ctrl key when dragging text which copies the dragged text.
  • Enabled full drag-and-drop functionality between all boxes - one can now drag text from the script box to the c-gen box, or between any boxes. Holding down the ctrl button while doing this copies instead of moves the text.
  • Corrected an issue in Intelli-Type which incorrectly adjusted the offered name when hitting backspace. Intelli-Type now seems to work properly!
  • Corrected a problem that occurred when exporting to Word, and there is no Production company logo, but there is a show logo.
Release 1.0.0.39 made available 20 November 2006, 10:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.38: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Adjusted Live Mode to report which items have been changed, so that those items are parsed immediately on returning to the main window. This avoids the rather confusing situation of seeing your recorded cameras, but not having bar numbers allocated to them.
  • Modified Intelli-Type slightly - it is now ONLY active when the cursor is placed at the beginning of a new line - thus typing over an already-written script item won't bring up Intelli-Type if links are shown. This makes more sense, and avoids Intelli-Type becoming an irritation!
  • Enabled the immediate display of Music detail after building. It was a little confusing not seeing the Music information until processing the Music Detail box.
  • Corrected the calculation of durations when importing from Word and Excel.
Release 1.0.0.38 made available 10 November 2006, 1:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.37: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Corrected a bug which tended to incompletely print some long items on cue cards
  • Eliminated an irritating "jumping" of the cursor when clicking on a long script in the script box.
  • Introduced Intelli-Type - a feature which fills in the names of people when typing in the script box. This speeds up scripting: one need only type the first letter of a person's name, and then accept the name offered by MCM by hitting Tab, or colon.
  • Corrected the printing of individual cue cards to include the printing of directions and non-people specific script elements.
Release 1.0.0.37 made available 7 November 2006, 8:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.36: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Added "Next" and "Your Next" to Cue Cards. Presenters can now see at a glance what item is coming next, and also which item they are next involved in, and in how long.
  • Fixed a bug caused by collapsing columns in the details window to zero width.
  • Corrected an error generated by trying to open a recent show from removable media.
  • Corrected the printing of full cue cards to include the printing of everything!
Release 1.0.0.36 made available 21 October 2006, 11:00 am

Release 1.0.0.35: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Completed the Import from Microsoft Excel feature. One can now create a new show from scratch by importing a running order compiled in Excel. One can also Import elements of a show into an existing MCM show from Excel - for instance importing cameras plotted in Excel. This works best if the element is worked into a running order exported from MCM, because of course the item numbers and item titles will correlate.
Release 1.0.0.35 made available 13 October 2006, 06:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.34: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Fixed a bug which occurred when trying to colour the text of the Script box, and all that was present in the box was formatting characters (in other words, no text).
  • Fixed a bug whereby Sending an Email from Multi-Cam Master would generate an error if one had never saved the file (and allocated it a proper filename).
  • Added extra details to the Title bar - which now displays total duration of the show, and the Off-Air time.
  • Completed the Import from Microsoft Word feature. One can now create a new show from scratch by importing a running order compiled in Word. One can also Import elements of a show into an existing MCM show from Word - for instance importing a script written in Word. This works best if the script was written into a running order exported from MCM, because of course the item numbers and item titles will correlate.
  • A similar Import from Excel feature will be completed with the next update.
Release 1.0.0.34 made available 30 September 2006, 06:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.33: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Added some details to the Show Statistics display.
  • Fixed a bug whereby Items retained an incorrect Show Time for their previous item, which resulted in errors in Live Mode. Live Mode now calculates all its times correctly!
  • Fixed a bug in Advanced Page Setup which involved trying to adjust column widths before knowing what those columns contained.
  • Introduced new settings - background shades for the printing of running orders, cue cards & camera cards. One can now choose shades or colours to print behind different types of items.
  • Corrected the clearing of background shades which would occasionally be printed all the way to the bottom of the page when an item ended fairly high up on the page.
Release 1.0.0.33 made available 17 September 2006, 02:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.32: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Introduced Show Statistics - this useful feature presents a breakdown of the show, including: all the people involved, how many speeches they make, how many words are spoken, in which item is the longest speech, what times they are required. And camera information: how many shots each camera has; VT information - how many VT items are played off each VT machine.
  • Disconnected all item attachments, and changed the process by which the show is saved (using SOAP formatting), which has reduced the average file size by almost 50%.
  • Enabled the clearing of production company and show logo's in case one decides to get rid of them (which also has file size reducing implications).
Release 1.0.0.32 made available 13 September 2006, 11:00 am

Release 1.0.0.31: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Corrected problem whereby Items would retain an outdated record of the previous item's show time. This affected Live Mode, in that items would disappear magically! Fun as this was, it no longer happens.
  • Fixed a bug whereby copying and pasting an item preceding a Non-Show item (such as a commercial break) resulted in the size of the mcm file doubling! This happened because of the way in which non-show items were handled.
  • Fixed a bug in the synchronisation process which caused a false failure when the show is locked.
  • Synchronisation now first synchronises technical and show specifications to avoid issues with parsing an incompletely synchronised show.
  • Changing People, Prop, Place or Wardrobe Item names no longer causes a stack overflow in the event of a long show by breaking the process into segments.
Release 1.0.0.31 made available 10 September 2006, 11:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.30: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Help files finally available online (because of the speed with which they are being updated). Once the Help files are complete, they will be packaged with the application.
  • Running Orders have the additional option of forcing a page break before each segment.
  • Camera Cards now print the titles of ALL items, regardless of whether they are camera items or not. This allows camera operators to follow the show more easily!
  • A small bug by which Commercial Breaks received Item numbers when moved has been ironed out. Commercial Breaks remain number-less.
  • A Bar or Time button in the main toolbar allows one to set the preference of using Bars to calculate shot durations, or using shot durations to calculate bars in musical items.
Release 1.0.0.30 made available 4 September 2006, 11:00 am

Release 1.0.0.29: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Live Mode complete! Including the TX Stream, with the ability to count in bars or time, and an advance or retard capability, so that one can synchronise the console exactly with the actual show (if a VT is rolled early or late, one can tweak the console to give a correct count). In Live Mode it is now also possible to jump back to the beginning of an item, or even the beginning of the previous item if one accidentally advances to an item too soon.
  • Camera Cards can now be printed with additional space between the shots to accommodate notes made by camera operators during rehearsals.
  • A bug was corrected where changing the TX time of a show after creating the running order would not actually reflect in the "show-time" detail of items. This now works correctly.
Release 1.0.0.29 made available 28 August 2006, 12:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.28: The following changes were made in this update:

  • First version of the software to include the long-awaited Live Mode. Live mode plays a show in real time, counting down each and every item, and also has a record mode, which allows one to adjust item durations 'on the fly'. This version has no TX stream, although that will follow shortly.
  • Finalised and included the Multi-Cam Master Music item definition. Musical items can now be defined exactly, including creating several sections, giving each section a beat per minute, a Meter, and number of bars. MCM will automatically insert a Ritardando to the end of a musical section if necessary.
  • Thanks to the definition of music within MCM, musical items can now be counted in bars, and camera instructions will automatically have bar numbers allocated to them.
Release 1.0.0.28 made available 21 August 2006, 06:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.27: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Added the ability to substitute names of People, Props, Places or Wardrobe. This means that a change of presenter is really easy to handle.

  • Corrected a license issue where on a software update the user's license is not correctly transferred into the new datastore.
  • Corrected an index error which arose when an entire script element is deleted. Elements can now be deleted without script colouring problems.
  • Corrected a problem that arose when printing camera cards, and there were no TX shots, but were shots in a screen or ISO.
Release 1.0.0.27 made available 9 August 2006, 05:00 pm

  • Initial progress was established for a spell check function. Not yet functional.
  • Adjusted the license and web server interaction, to avoid RSA cyrptography errors that were caused by the hyphen in Multi-Cam Master.
  • Corrected the edit trail behaviour which would change the background on a segment header, or a "create new item" bar. This no longer happens.
  • Adjusted the splash screen so that it doesn't disappear 6 seconds before the application main window appears!
Release 1.0.0.25 made available 25 July 2006, 11:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.24: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Changed default directory to C:\, which is changed on first run to the default document directory. This was to avoid problems on some computers where they would try to access non-existent directories on creating a new show.
  • Changed the automatic backup to detect if a file has not been saved, and to launch a Save As window if that is the case. This avoids a crash if after 5 minutes the user hasn't saved the file.
Release 1.0.0.24 made available 21 July 2006, 01:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.23: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Changed time editing boxes to allow for some to reflect hours and minutes, and others to show minutes and seconds.
  • Transferred license management to public server.

Release 1.0.0.22: The following changes were made in this update:

  • All icons completed and incorporated into the software - so now one can tell what all those buttons do!
  • Licensing elements completed. Beta Testing license generation incorporated so that Beta Testers can obtain full free licenses.
  • Timed backups incorporated - the default is for a timed backup to be created every 5 minutes. 5 backups are stored, so it is possible to restore a file back by 25 minutes. These settings can be changed to suit the user.
  • Application has moved to its own domain - www.multicammaster.com
  • Corrected a problem whereby the technical and show specifications for a show would be overwritten if the user edited the show details.
Release 1.0.0.22 made available 28 June 2006, 05:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.21: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Major restructuring of all "plain text" type elements, such as Production Notes, C-Gen, Lighting, DVE etc. These elements all now work correctly.
  • Links were established, enabling the linking of items, and therefore enabling the printing of items in the correct relative positions. The link process includes the toggle for displaying links or not, and the ability to clear links.
  • Completed the context-sensitive prompting of items in input boxes. The user hits F2, and a list of appropriate show elements appears.
  • Added a more intelligent ability to the Synchronisation of files, whereby the software will identify which elements differ between the local and remote versions of the files, and will display a preview window to help the user decide which way to synchronise.
  • Added licensing functionality, although it is dormant in this version, and will be activated when Beta Testing is started.
  • Added Status Bar context-sensitive help, to guide users through the input process.
  • Completed the "Structure Bar" on the left, for easy mouse-driven structural building of a show.
  • Created the "Advanced Print Setup" facility whereby the user can customise every aspect of all the printing output of the software. Applies to Running Orders, Camera Cards and Cue Cards.
Release 1.0.0.21 made available 12 April 2006, 03:30 pm

Release 1.0.0.20: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Corrected problem when pasting text into the script box, whereby the text would bring its own formatting with it - casuing problems with the sizing of the script window. Any text pasted from another application now adopts the format of the script window.
  • Restored the right-click mouse functions to the script window. (They accidentally disappeared through the word-counting process).
  • Resolved a problem where occasionally the program struggled to parse script items correctly.
  • Included Recent Files process - whereby the program remembers files that it has been working on, and provides quick links to opening them.
  • Fixed a bug which generated an Object reference error: caused by trying to colour script items before they had been parsed and added to the Event as objects.
  • Enabled the regeneration of boxes when within an item, so that one does not have to switch items in order to see an element correctly parsed and displayed.
Release 1.0.0.20 made available 6 March 2006, 07:30 am

Release 1.0.0.19: The following changes were made in this update:

  • Finalised printing of running orders, so that they can be printed across several pages, in a side-by-side fashion. This means that running orders can be printed with absolutely every column included (or any combination of columns).
  • Corrected problem with printing of end times - they now print correctly, in brackets below the start times of items.
  • Enabled intelligent script display, whereby script elements which have been identified as belonging to a person are displayed in a user-defined colour, to distinguish these elements from non-dialogue script elements.
  • Included a word count in script items. Total word count for the item is also displayed.
  • Changed initial window properties, to remember previous window state, so that program opens at the same size as it was last used.
  • Enabled keyboard and button editing. ctrl+c, v and x and corresponding buttons now copy, paste and cut.
  • Finalised intelligent editing - cutting, copying and pasting can be effected on entire items in the outline view, as well as on selected text in any of the detail windows.
  • Changed the entire update process to be silent, and asynchronous. Speeds up the start-up of the program, and doesn't wait for update before allowing the user to get down to work.
Release 1.0.0.19 made available 1 March 2006, 01:00 pm

Release 1.0.0.18: The following changes were made in this update:

Release 1.0.0.16 made available 24 February 2006, 09:00 am

Pre 1.0.0.16: The birth of Multi-Cam Master!

  • Development on Multi-Cam Master commenced on 10 January 2006. From an initial idea from David Hickson, it developed into a fully-fledged application. Our goal was to have a workable version of the software available for the first episode of Strictly Come Dancing SA (season I). We made it, only just, and Multi-Cam Master was christened ... a very simple version, that basically printed a running order involving script and timings and little else!
